lost child

She is a child of the Earth.
But amidst the chaos of society,
She has gotten lost,
Molding herself into something she is not.
She has taken on burdens for others,
With hopes of reaping love,
Only to be confronted with ignorance.
Still subordinate to some "God" above.
She continues to smile,
Looking pampered and proud.
She thinks everyhing is okay,
That everything is sound.
But her heart tells her otherwise.
It drowns as it beats uncontrollably out of her chest,
An irregular beat you can't save with a life vest.
She's sinking,
But no one seems to see.
She thinks,
maybe if she bled blue blood they would see,
They would realize that she was not okay.
That beyond the smiles,
She was dying inside.
Dying to be heard,
Dying to be understood,
Dying to be loved.
But how could that be?
One would say,
She has people who listen to her,
She is heard.
She has friends who know her better than she knows herself,
She is understood.
She has people who would do anything for her,
She is loved.
But what they don't know,
Is it was never about them.
It was never about the amount of physical affection,
The exchanges she received from others.
It has always been about herself,
About the love and acceptance she failed to provide for her own vessel.
All because society poisoned an innocent mind all too soon.
It crawled through the cracks of a broken child,
Planted itself in her subconscious,
Its roots entangling themselves and spreading,
Spreading until it consumed her mind,
And drove her crazy,
To death.
This child was a child of the Earth,
But she was lost.
Lost to the society that wronged her,
And the Earth that tried to safe her.
For in the end it was only she that could save herself.
